Clay Bust and Faces on a Potter's Table

Album Info:
Sagada pottery traces its roots to locals who once used earthen jars and utensils in ancient community rituals. It is widely believed that locals value jars as “precious and sacred”. This belief is widely attributed to the fact that the ancient ritual wine (called tapuy or rice wine) comes from these jars. Jars are considered as a centerpiece of Sagada’s culture. As further proof of its sacred value to the people, accompanying rituals are required before opening any of the jars.
