Album Info:

I have drawn on this old map red dots on all the towns with a name already present on the map that we have really visited at least one time; Many other places have been visited but not represented here as the name was not written; On 2008/08/01 we had made 94 large trips outside metropolitan France representing 184 visits of 60 different Nations and 305 entries registered on our passports; I must add to that 51 visits of their 29 overseas lands (as Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion Island, New Caledonia for France or Hawaii and Alaska for USA, etc .); I have also to mention the States or Provinces of the vast Federal Nations visited several times as USA (36 States mainly to visit all National Parks & Monuments), Canada (10 Provinces), India (8 States), China (8 Provinces), Brazil (6 States including Amazonas), Argentina (4 Regions), Chile (5 Regions), Mexico (5 States), Malaysia (10 Sultanates), South Africa (7 States), Indonesia (6 Islands) and many more. That represents 3 large trips a year during 32 years and globally 359 plane take off, just 1,1 million kilometres in flight (equivalent to 2,8 moon trips or more than one month and a half in plane(calculated with an average plane speed of 900 km/hour), 21 thousands kilometres on the seas, lakes and rivers, 10 thousands kilometres by train and 265,000 kilometres in rental cars self driven equivalent to 6,5 equatorial globe tours (and I except tours made in buses or in cars with drivers (near 40 thousands kilometres, a new globe equatorial tour) in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Burma Myanmar, Czech Republic, Argentina, Chile, continental China (we rented a car in the other China Taiwan), Sumatra, Java & Sulawesi Indonesian Islands (in Bali visited four times we rented a car), Guatemala, Jordan, Syria, Israel, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia; I did take 120,000 pictures (50,000 digital & 70,000 slides not converted); Even if we had some bad adventures here and there (very few in fact and not any accident or severe injuries), these trips have illuminated our lives and permitted the discovery of many natural or man handmade wonders, of many religions, traditions and civilizations, and most of all have permitted to meet so different peoples but always nice persons.

  • Dearest Jacques - your travels are overwhelming! We are so lucky that you are such a photographer, because that opens so many doors to the world that many people will never get a chance to see otherwise. Thanks for your nice words in my Tour of Missouri album - your comments are most appreciated. In looking over your world travelers it occurred to me you might be interested in the International Travel Newsletter. It's based in California and geared towards Americans, of course, but it covers the world except for North America and I think you would be eligible for a number of their awards. They will send you a free issue if you go to their web site. You can probably even get some of your photos and stories published there! Here's their web address: www.intltravelnews.com . To answer your question, life in Missouri is MUCH different from life in California. You should fill in that hole in your map some day and see what life in the small midwestern towns are like. It's quite nice for me because all my family is here. I'll be posting some more photos soon. Hugs to you and Pierre too, Beth

  • Jacques, The statistics in this are truly amazing. You have been in more US states than I have been in. 110,000 pictures - wow. My mind can't even begin to grasp all that you have done and seen. Truly a wonderful life blessed by God. Best wishes, Carol
