Album Info:
The first Alaskans migrated from Asia around 30,000 years ago during an ice age which connected Siberia with Alaska. The major nomadic tribes were Tlingits, the Haidas, the Athabascans, the Inuits and the Yupiks. They mainly subsisted as hunter-gatherers. The cold and stormy climate of Alaska prevented early colonization of Alaska. In the 18th century, Russia had slowly gained control of the fur trade in Alaska. However, by 1860, the Russians found themselves overextended. The war against Napoleon and the decline in fur trade forced them to sell Alaska to USA in 1867 for $7.2 million - less than 2 cents an acre!!

One could spend an entire day viewing your albums over and over again and reading the descriptions. How nice you visited me, I hope the titles had been written already:)

Just noticed this was featured the other day in Alaska of the Travel Channel. It is one of my favorite photos because you captured the eagle......or at least I assume it is an eagle. Carol

Every one of your albums is a book in it's own right. I enjoy the information almost as much as the photos. By the way the first thing I saw was the eagle and was rather surprised no one else had mentioned it until I read Marita's comment.

I would like to buy one acre of this land just to have this view in my back yard. It looks like a large diamond, this is why it is so majestic!
