photo taken 12/20/08. Dec 20, 2008 a mocked up mine at the station. Back in the winter of 1978 while the crew of Monte Cristo was fighting a structure fire in Hidden Springs and a flash flood swiftly tore thru the canyon, swept some of the crew members and others. Ravishing the area and reshaping Big Tujunga canyon. The flood took 13 lives that night and some of them were my friends, including the engine foreman. He was a great man and he has been surely missed by all of us who knew him.
