Album Info:

A view from the inside of the fort, of (what was) the SW gate. All that remains to be seen, is the break in the rampart line, forming a "V" shape in the earthen-bank. There were two huge wooden towers here in the Iron age, and in Arthur's time it was a unique single tower, with gate, straddling this entrance. Burnt remains have been found from the Iron-age; these are marks on the rock and the two sentry chambers cut into it. The roadway through here was well-worn with the action of thousands of feet through the ages. Marks of wheel ruts were also noted. You can see it's very misty day, a good time to take a peek at this place; there is more atmosphere on a day like this. Just think of all the activity in days of old; echoes of a distant time!

  • Yes! I can imagine so many voices, and the sounds of the animals, and clinking of metal.... This is fascinating and so filled with intrigue! It is like holy ground! I do love history so much, thank you for this, it is so compelling!

  • Thanks, Keizerin, my friend. I was slightly disappointed about the number of views to this album, especially considering it's subject's momentous history and it's likelihood to being the actual King Arthur's Camelot. You've shown me that others are interested (Danke schon!)
