Album Info:
A Heiau is an ancient Hawaiian religious site utilized to worship and appease the Hawaiian Gods. By the way, human sacrifices were also conducted here. Violators of the kapu, religious and civil laws, were put to death by the Kahunas, or priests, on altars located at the Heiau. Various methods of killing included clubbing, stoning, and being buried alive. The oppressive kapu system was abolished in 1819 after the arrival of Christian Missionaries to the islands and following the death of King Kamehameha.

Are you able to walk up onto the Heiau, or is it protected and everyone must keep a distance to preserve it?
