Album Info:

I was standing at the Domitian Gate in Hierapolis on this cold February day in 2006. Next to this gate in the first century Philip and his four daughters were attempting to sneak around the altar, where you had to offer incense to Domitian, to gain entrance to the city. Philip and his daughters were caught, they were killed in front of his eyes, and Philip was crucified right next to this gate after his eyes were put out. A sword was used to cut around his Achilles tendons, and a chain was placed around the tendons, and he was chained to the cross in this fashion. Before she died, one of his daughters strongly admonished her father to be faithful until death. The Apostle Paul, a Roman citizen, could gain entrance to the city without offering incense, since his loyalty to Rome was implied by his citizenship.
