Album Info:

The snow falling at high elevation slowly compacts and eventually turns into ice. This ice builds up in mass and becomes several feet thick. The force of gravity makes this glacier, a river of ice, move towards the valley. As the glacier moves downwards it grinds the rock bed of the mountain. This pulverized mass of rocks, vegetation etc. is called 'moraine'. The brown area one often sees in a glacier bed is a moraine.
