Album Info:
(DSC09364) The Bontoc Rice Granary - The "Alang" (rice granary) plays an important role in the Cordillera rice culture. A "bul-ul" (rice god) or a pair of bul-uls, depending on the size of the granary, is placed inside the "alang" to guard the harvest. This "alang" was built in 1950 in Gonogon for Sakgaka Tanganga. Marcelina, Sakgaka's daughter, passed it on to her son, Johnson Balingawan. It was transported to Pico, La Trinidad in 1998. Chanum Foundation, Inc. acquired the hut in March 2006.
