Album Info:

An interesting feature of this church is the Roman- period floor found next to its western wall. Typical of floors of that era, it is made of very large, striated stones that kept people from slipping as they walked.

  • Your caption reminds me of the floor we saw (and I wish I could remember exactly where it is), where a game board is scribed into the stone floor. It was told that the Roman soldiers used it for playing a game such as checkers.
