September 29th is the anniversary date of the setting of the foundation stone, the final stone, and me passing my Docent test at Washington National Cathedral (1907, 1990 and 2000, respectively). With the coming of autumn, the midday light, which has spent the summer down on the floor, begins to climb the main arcade arches again. The light of Cathedral Day, 2006 was as festive, celebratory and beautiful as any fireworks display.
