I have retraced my path on Lauderdale, past the Uptown Square Leasing Office. Once more I am standing opposite the Recreation Hall. Some fans will recognize the street name above. Yes, the Presley family lived on Alabama Avenue. When Elvis signed his first professional recording contract with Sam Phillips in July 1954, his home address was 462 Alabama. His mother and father co-signed for he was under the legal age. The Presleys rented from the Rabbi Fruchter family. I will show you the approximate location of this address. We will walk away from the Recreation Center.
