Album Info:

My main reason for coming to Alcatraz was to see the lighthouse, one that I had always admired for its design and unique location. The original lighthouse was the first in operation on the Pacific Coast, lit on June 1, 1854. This particular tower was built in 1909, is 84-foot tall and made of concrete. The Keeper's house was destroyed in a 1970 fire but the light, automated and operated by the Coast Guard, was still shining as we toured the island.
