Full text of marker: "This Peace Bell was given by the WORLD PEACE BELL ASSOCIATION to the Philippines, the first in Southeast Asia, in recognition of its adherence to peace and democracy. Fomijuro Yoshida, Executive Chairman, turned over this Peace Bell to Quezon City Vice Mayor Charito Planas at a ceremony held at the Tsunama-Chi Mitsui Club in Tokyo on July 1, 1994. The first Peace Bell is made of coins and medals contributed by the 65 member countries of the United Nations. It was installed at the inner court of the United Nations Headquarters in New York in 1954. This Peace Bell is 1.05 meters high, 0.60 meters in diameter and weighs 365 kilos. The dome is designed by the Quezon City Planning Office. Mayor Ismael A. Mathay, Jr. formally accepted this Peace Bell for Quezon City during its inauguration on Dec. 10, 1994 by his Excellency President Fidel V. Ramos."
