This is an amazing picture,the Bird of Paradise is also known as the Strelitzia Reginae and is indigenous to South Africa where it grows wild in the eastern Cape.It has over the years been exported all over the World. Makes me think of times long past. My God this whole album is just amazing,your pictures are incredible. Penny do you give classes in photography?

One of my favourite flowers. I have this variety of bird of paradise and I also have the black bird of paradise (strelizia nicolai) which is an amazing tree. I have two of them and they stand about 7 metres tall and have the most magnificent huge black flowers with white coming out of the centre instead of orange. I have some photos of them in one of my albums. I was so surprised to be able to grow such a tropical plant in one of the coldest parts of Australia. Regards....Sue
