Album Info:

(DSC09786) It is often quoted from Wikipedia that San Juanico Strait has a "thousand whirlpools & a number of islets". It was an exhilirating expereince to pass through this bridge for the first time. On 3 occasions, I stopped & got off the car to take photos, & immediately noticed many whirlpools underneath the bridge - perhaps due to the strong current that slam against its many supporting columns. It's both exciting while at the same time unnerving to witness this phenomenon right underneath my feet. I can imagine anyone with suicidal tendencies would easily fall off the guardrails & get swallowed up by the thousand whirlpools swirling around. Furthermore, strong unpredictable winds can increase chances of accidents happening on the bridge. Hence for our safety, we were advised not to stay too long at any part of the bridge.
