Album Info:

The cathedral itself was modified many times. In 1567, the Wars of Religion destroyed the roofing and vaults which were first rebuilt in wood. The architect Jean-Baptiste Franque and his son gave the edifice contrasting but extremely beautiful Classical vaults, from 1757 to 1759. The magnificent and so original Flamboyant Gothic choir was constructed from 1516 to 1522. The vaulting with lierne-ribs and tiercerons is quite rare in this region. The window traceries are greatly elegant and the striking difference with the sober nave makes the cathedral even more valuable and interesting to discover. We have here a true lesson of architecture and history of French styles.
