The small village of Roussillon is considered to be one of the most beautiful in France and together with the surrounding area of Luberon, boasts a unique peculiarity; the houses and landscape are dominated by the colours of ochre. Just outside Roussillon it is possible to visit the famous ochre caves which present colours ranging from yellow to deep red, created by the varying concentration of iron oxide.
