Album Info:

The Kiowa tribe was a classic representative of the Plains horse culture. Migrating southward from the northern Rocky Mountains in the late 17th century, the Kiowas and other tribes of the Plains began acquiring Spanish horses and developing the characteristic traits of the horse culture. The Kiowas adopted the simple social organization of the nomadic band, which practiced no agriculture, manufactured no pottery nor basketry, and depended on hunting buffalo for food, clothing and shelter.
