During the week of July 22, 2007 we traveled to the remote Big Sur in central California to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The Big Sur encompasses 75 miles of coast from the Malpaso Canyon in the Carmel Highlands in Monterey County, south to the San Carpóforo Creek in San Luis Obispo County. The Big Sur is distinguished by spectacular scenery, temperate weather, and interesting history. The Cabrillo Highway, better known as Highway 1, traverses the rugged coastline of the Big Sur. The Big Sur stretch of Highway 1 was begun in 1922 and completed in 1937. The Bixby Bridge is a symbol of the Big Sur, and it is known as one of the most-photographed bridges in the world because of its setting. Enjoy!
